Before You List
Research at least 5 comparable RVs currently listed in your state before setting your price
Get a professional cleaning — inside, outside, and engine compartment
Fix every small mechanical issue you can — buyers use every flaw to negotiate down
Take photos in good daylight — minimum 20 photos including all slideouts, bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom
Write a description that leads with lifestyle, not specs

Pricing It Right
Never price based on what you paid or what you owe — price based on current market demand
Check NADA, RV Trader, and current listings for your exact year, make, and model
Build in 5–8% negotiation room above your true floor price
If you're underwater on your loan, do NOT list until you have a plan — pricing wrong here costs thousands

Qualifying Buyers
Never allow a showing without a confirmed appointment
Require a small refundable deposit ($100) to schedule serious buyers — this eliminates 90% of tire-kickers
Ask three questions before every showing: Are you pre-approved or paying cash? When are you looking to buy? Have you seen similar units?
If they won't answer basic questions, they're not ready to buy — move on

During the Sale
Never negotiate against yourself — let the buyer make the first offer
Don't reveal your bottom line or your urgency — ever
Get any offer in writing before doing any additional prep work on the RV
Never skip a bill of sale — even in private sales

Red Flags to Watch For
Buyers who want to "send a check and arrange shipping" — this is a scam, every time
Anyone who asks you to wire money or use Zelle before seeing the RV in person
Buyers who pressure you to skip paperwork "to keep it simple"
Anyone who won't provide ID before a showing — serious buyers have nothing to hide
