RV Buying Consultant in Florida: A Former Dealer on Your Side of the Desk

The salesperson, the sales manager, and the finance manager all have a pay plan built around your deal. I spent 25 years on that side of the desk. Now I help RV buyers avoid the traps before they sign, for a flat fee.

Quick answer: what does an RV buying consultant do? An RV buying consultant works for you, not the dealer. Easy Escapes RV helps Florida buyers decide what to buy, find a fair price, shop dealers against each other, and get ready for the finance office. Help starts with a $97 live workshop, a $297 one-hour Buying Strategy Call, or the $997 Buy-With-Me package. No commissions and no dealer referral fees.
Buying an RV is one of the few big purchases where the other side knows almost everything and you know almost nothing. They know the dealer's cost, the pack, the fees, the lender's buy rate, and exactly how much room is in the price. You know the monthly payment you were hoping for.
I spent 15 years working for dealers and nine as a licensed Florida RV dealer. I've worked the sales floor, the RV show floor, and seen how the finance office really makes its money. Today I don't sell RVs, and I don't take referral fees from dealers or lenders. I work for the buyer, for one flat fee.
I help by phone and video, wherever you're shopping. You do the shopping. I make sure you walk in knowing what they know.

What the dealer knows that you don't

These are things I saw firsthand, over and over, from inside dealerships.
The lowest price often depends on their financing I saw the best price offered only if the buyer financed through the dealer. Sales and finance managers work together: cut the price up front, then make it back in the finance office. More on how the finance office really works.
Your rate is marked up from the bank's rate The bank gives the dealer a buy rate. The finance office can add to it, and it keeps a "bag" of lenders to fit each loan to the one that pays the dealer most. Getting preapproved first changes that conversation.
Long loans and add-ons keep buyers upside down I saw a lot of 180-month RV loans. Buyers shop the monthly payment, add extended warranties and protection packages, and barely pay down the balance before the RV loses value. Here's what a 20-year RV loan really costs.
New isn't always the smart buy RVs can lose 20 to 40 percent of their value within three years, depending on the market. Plenty of used RVs are in great shape. Here's why I would never buy new.
Show deals and leftover units aren't what they seem Show discounts are a starting point, not a gift, and leftover units can carry more wear than you'd expect from sitting. See RV show deals and the best time to buy in Florida.

What I don't do

Straight answers, up front I don't sell RVs or take referral fees from dealers or lenders. I don't come out to see RVs. And I don't review your finance contract or loan paperwork. What I do is get you ready, so you know what to look for and what to ask before anything gets signed.
Frank's Take I watched good people get buried in the finance office.
Finance offices always lead with what makes the deal look good on the surface. They don't volunteer the real truth of the deal: the marked-up rate, the 180-month term, the add-ons rolled into the loan.
Years later, back when I ran a consignment lot, I'd see some of those same buyers come to me upside down, with no good way out. Some owed $10,000 more than the RV was worth. One owed $100,000 more.
The fix isn't complicated. Shop by phone, unemotionally. Get the build sheet. Compare current, leftover, and slightly used. Settle the price before the trade, and the trade before the financing. Have a used RV inspected.
Most buyers just never had anyone from the inside tell them how it works. That's what I do now. I help RV buyers avoid finance-office traps before they sign.
